What to do
Wear modest, clean clothes. Choose a clean, quiet spot. Face the qiblah — the direction of the Kaʿbah in Makkah. If you are unsure, use a compass app or your best guess; Allah does not burden you beyond what you can find.

- femaleCover the whole body except the face and hands, and wear something loose that does not show the shape underneath.
- maleAt minimum, cover from the navel to the knees; a shirt covering the shoulders is preferred.

Common mistakes
- Praying with distractions nearby (TV, phone notifications).
- Worrying about the exact qiblah when your best effort is what is asked of you.
