What to do
In the first two rak‘ahs, add a short surah after Al-Fātiḥah. Surah Al-Ikhlāṣ is short, well-known, and beloved. Learn one surah at a time.
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ اللَّهُ الصَّمَدُ لَمْ يَلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كُفُوًا أَحَدٌ
Transliteration
Qul huwa Llāhu aḥad · Allāhu ṣ-ṣamad · Lam yalid wa lam yūlad · Wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad
Meaning
Say: He is Allah, the One. Allah, the Eternal Refuge. He neither begets nor is born, and there is none like Him.

Be careful of
Common mistakes
- Adding a surah in the 3rd or 4th rak‘ah — only Al-Fātiḥah is needed there.
- Trying to memorise a long surah first. Start small and build.
